In the afternoon of Wednesday December 19, 2018,
we said prayers and goodbyes for our loved one, Ronald Douglas Frid, as he passed away peacefully at home at age 71 (Pops would say his 72nd year), with his loving family by his side.

Ron was the cherished husband of Armina, loving father of Nathanial, Matthew, Sarah, April, Nicholas, and Jennifer, brother of Robin, and was preceded in death by his late wife Helen and parents Douglas and Myrtle.

Ron was a man of many, many, many words, but also many talents and had a real gift for making close connections with people, and those who truly knew him, loved him.

He ran his family business York Greenhouses with passion and dedication. He took great pride in growing the best quality plants, providing an array of beautiful and healthy plants with colours for the eye to behold.

He was a musician who played the Cordovox, a skillful fisherman who loved the natural beauty of the outdoors, but his true passion was running. Many knew Ron from his running days. They called him the "Gazelle", he ran so effortlessly and with such grace. He still holds the record for the indoor mile in Ontario at 4:17.50 for a male over 40. He also ran the Boston marathon at the age of 46 with a time of 2:40:40. Ron competed in many races throughout his life unfortunately he could not outrun cancer.

He was the strongest man we knew and even during the roughest times of his life he never gave in. He always encouraged us to live life to the fullest, and be the best version of ourselves that we can be. He made us think, made us laugh, and made us so thankful and blessed to have a man like him in our lives.

"Cancer will not win because when I die, I'm taking it with me." - Ron Frid
